Nikola Jokic scores 17, fouls out in third quarter
Wed, May 7, 2025, 6:22 PM
Nikola Jokic finished with 17 points (6-of-16 FGs), eight rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block, two three-pointers and six turnovers in Game 2 against the Thunder on Wednesday.
Analysis: This was Jokic's worst performance of the postseason, and it came to an end in the third quarter. He fouled out with 1:17 left in the third, which brought his night to a close after he played 32 minutes. OKC was up 41 points when Jokic fouled out, so his night may have been close to over anyway. Jokic dominated Game 1, and the Thunder adjusted. Denver will need other players to step up if they want to have a chance of winning this series, but Jokic will also need to be better than he was in this game.
Michael Porter
Michael Porter Jr. held to eight points in Game 2
Wed, May 7, 2025, 6:21 PM
Michael Porter Jr. struggled on Wednesday and finished with just eight points (2-of-10 FGs), five rebounds, one steal and two three-pointers in Game 2 against the Thunder.
Analysis: MPJ was slightly better in the second half, as all eight of his points came in the third quarter. However, the game was already out of hand at that point after a terrible first half for both Porter Jr. and the Nuggets. MPJ shot 1-of-8 in Game 1, and they'll need him to be much better moving forward. The series will now shift back to Denver, and MPJ will look to get back on track during the two home games before the series heads back to Oklahoma City.
Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook chips in 19 points off bench
Wed, May 7, 2025, 6:19 PM
Russell Westbrook provided a boost off the bench with 19 points (5-of-11 FGs, 8-of-10 FTs), one rebound, five assists and one three-pointer in a 149-106 loss to the Thunder in Game 2 on Wednesday.
Analysis: Despite an ugly first half for Denver, Westbrook was productive and entered the break with 15 points. He didn't add much in the second half, though he sat the entire fourth quarter, still it was enough to lead the Nuggets in scoring. Russ has been awesome over Denver's last five games, and his continued success will be key to the Nuggets winning this series. Though this game was ugly, they still have homecourt advantage in this series. They'll look to keep it in Game 3 on Friday.
Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook contributes 18 points vs. OKC
Mon, May 5, 2025, 6:55 PM
Russell Westbrook recorded 18 points (7-of-13 FGs, 3-of-5 FTs), two rebounds, two assists and one three-pointer in 30 minutes in Monday's Game 1 win over the Thunder.
Analysis: Playing against the franchise that drafted him, Westbrook was excellent in Game 1. He was efficient offensively, and while he only had two assists, one was the biggest of the game. Westbrook found Aaron Gordon on the left wing in the final seconds, and AG's three-pointer was the difference in Denver's 121-119 victory. Westbrook's performance helped Denver compensate for Michael Porter Jr. (2/4/0/1/1) shooting 1-of-8 from the field. Game 2 is on Wednesday night.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray scores 21 points in Game 1 comeback
Mon, May 5, 2025, 6:52 PM
Jamal Murray accumulated 21 points (6-of-16 FGs, 7-of-8 FTs), six rebounds, six assists, one steal and two three-pointers in 44 minutes in a Game 1 win over the Thunder on Monday.
Analysis: Murray was a bit off in Game 1, but he provided solid value in the rebound and assist categories to help Denver steal the win. While he averaged 21.0 points in three games against the Thunder during the regular season, the Nuggets guard shot just 40.4 percent from the field. Given the perimeter defenders at Oklahoma City's disposal, Murray's efficiency may be lower than it has been on most nights this season. He's good enough to still provide solid value and contribute to winning. Game 2 is on Wednesday.
Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic posts 42/22/6/1/2 line in Game 1 win
Mon, May 5, 2025, 6:43 PM
Andres Alvarez
Nikola Jokic amassed 42 points (15-of-29 FGs, 10-of-13 FTs), 22 rebounds, six assists, one steal, two blocks and two three-pointers in 42 minutes in Monday's Game 1 win over the Thunder.
Analysis: Jokic may have recorded seven turnovers on Monday, but he still did something few have done in postseason history. He's the fourth player to record a stat line of at least 40 points, 20 rebounds and five assists, joining Giannis Antetokounmpo, Shaquille O'Neal and Wilt Chamberlain. Few teams have an answer for the three-time MVP, so there's little shame in giving up a gaudy stat line to The Joker. He and the Nuggets will look to take a 2-0 series lead on Wednesday.
Aaron Gordon
Aaron Gordon sinks game-winning triple in Game 1
Mon, May 5, 2025, 6:38 PM
NBA
Aaron Gordon finished Monday's Game 1 win over the Thunder with 22 points (7-of-15 FGs, 5-of-5 FTs), 14 rebounds, one assist and three three-pointers in 39 minutes.
Analysis: For the second time this postseason, the Nuggets won a game thanks to Gordon's heroics. While it was a dunk that sealed Denver's Game 4 win over the Clippers, the veteran forward hit a three-pointer with 2.9 seconds remaining to knock off the Thunder. Gordon shot 3-of-6 from three, and his confidence as a shooter has improved substantially this season. During the regular season, he shot a career-high 43.6 percent on 3.4 attempts per game. Gordon and the Nuggets will look to extend their series lead on Wednesday.
Christian Braun
Christian Braun posts 21/5/4 line vs. Clippers
Sat, May 3, 2025, 4:20 PM
Christian Braun lit up the Clippers with 21 points (8-of-15 FGs), five rebounds, four assists, one steal and three three-pointers in Game 7 against the Clippers on Saturday.
Analysis: Braun has been solid throughout the postseason, but he had his highest-scoring performance of the series in the closeout win. This was also a new playoff career-high for him. Braun has enjoyed a breakout season, and that has continued into the postseason. He has solidified his role as a starter beyond this season, which bodes well for fantasy basketball. He'll have a tall task in the second round of the playoffs in a matchup with the top-seeded Thunder.
Aaron Gordon
Aaron Gordon scores team-high 22 points in Game 7
Sat, May 3, 2025, 4:11 PM
Aaron Gordon led the Nuggets with 22 points (9-of-16 FGs), four rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in Game 7 against the Clippers on Saturday.
Analysis: Gordon led a balanced attack for the Nuggets to help them advance to the next round. He was one of six players to score in double figures for Denver, which included all five starters. Gordon had a strong series, and they'll need him to continue to play at a high level against Oklahoma City in the second round. The Nuggets went 3-0 in the first round when Gordon scored at least 20 points.
Russell Westbrook
Westbrook posts 16/5/5/5 line to close out Clips
Sat, May 3, 2025, 4:00 PM
Russell Westbrook provided a boost off the bench with 16 points (5-of-9 FGs), five rebounds, five assists, five steals and two three-pointers on Saturday to help the Nuggets to a series-deciding 120-101 Game 7 win over the Clippers.
Analysis: There were plenty of highs and lows for Westbrook throughout the series, but with the season on the line, he rose to the occasion. He had some big moments in the fourth quarter to solidify the win for Denver and eliminate his former team. Despite what social media may say, Westbrook is still more than capable of making an impact in the playoffs, and they will need him to produce like he did in this game during their matchup with the top-seeded Thunder in the second round. For now, Russ gets the last laugh after both Los Angeles teams were eliminated in the first round.
Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook records 14/10/6 line vs. LAC
Thu, May 1, 2025, 7:03 PM
Russell Westbrook finished a Game 6 loss to the Clippers on Thursday with 14 points (5-of-10 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), 10 rebounds, six assists and two three-pointers in 35 minutes.
Analysis: After dropping 21 points in his return to the Nuggets' rotation in Game 5, Westbrook had another quality performance in Game 6. He was efficient while recording a double-double, shooting 50 percent from the field and committing two turnovers. With Michael Porter Jr. (five points, three rebounds, two steals, one block and one three-pointer) struggling in his 24 minutes, the Nuggets relied on Westbrook more as they looked to close out the series. Look for Westbrook to once again figure prominently in the rotation for Game 7 on Saturday.
Aaron Gordon
Aaron Gordon drops 19 points, complete stat line
Thu, May 1, 2025, 7:01 PM
Aaron Gordon accumulated 19 points (9-of-16 FGs), five rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and one three-pointer in 41 minutes in a Game 6 loss to the Clippers on Thursday.
Analysis: Having shot 40 percent from three in the first five games of the series, Gordon provided solid value in that category after making a career-best 43.6 percent of his attempts during the regular season. Unfortunately for the Nuggets, he came back to earth on Thursday, going 1-of-6 from beyond the arc. While Gordon shot the ball well overall, better three-point shooting would have helped the Nuggets compensate for Michael Porter Jr.'s poor night. Denver will host Game 7 on Saturday night.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray tallies 21 points, eight assists
Thu, May 1, 2025, 6:55 PM
Jamal Murray amassed 21 points (9-of-19 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), eight rebounds, eight assists, three blocks and two three-pointers in 44 minutes in a Game 6 loss to the Clippers on Thursday.
Analysis: After torching the Clippers in Game 5, regardless of who was assigned to him defensively, Murray was held in check in Game 6. A significant reason was the change made by Clippers coach Tyronn Lue, who gave Kawhi Leonard the task of defending Murray to begin Thursday's contest. While the final stat line was solid, the Nuggets guard was made to work much harder than he did in Denver's victory on Tuesday. Murray will need to be at his best in Game 7 on Saturday night. While home teams are 110-37 all-time in Game 7, the road team has won eight of the last 12.
Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic scores 25 points in Game 6 defeat
Thu, May 1, 2025, 6:52 PM
Nikola Jokic played 41 minutes in a Game 6 loss to the Clippers on Thursday, finishing with 25 points (11-of-22 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs), seven rebounds, eight assists, three steals, one block and two three-pointers.
Analysis: After recording three triple-doubles and two double-doubles in the first five games of this series, Jokic finished Game 6 with neither. While he did record a complete stat line, the Clippers were able to keep the three-time MVP in check with their season on the line. Also, Jokic's four turnovers were the most in a game for him since Game 2, when he was responsible for seven in another defeat. Jokic and the Nuggets earned home court for a potential Game 7, and they'll look to take advantage on Saturday night.
Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic posts 13/10/12 line vs. Clippers
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 7:15 PM
Nikola Jokic earned a triple-double in the Nuggets' Game 5 win on Tuesday over the Clippers, finishing with 13 points (4-of-13 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs), 10 rebounds, 12 assists, one steal, two blocks and one three-pointer.
Analysis: The three-time NBA MVP had a relatively quiet game by his standards but still came away with his third triple-double of the series. Jokic struggled with shooting efficiency, and his scoring output was the lowest of the series. Yet, his points were not as necessary in this game, given how well the rest of the Nuggets shot the ball. Nevertheless, Jokic will be in line for another big performance on Thursday when the Nuggets face the Clippers in Game 6.
Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook scores 21 points vs. Clippers
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 7:06 PM
Russell Westbrook came off the bench and produced 21 points (8-of-15 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), one rebound, one assist and three three-pointers in the Nuggets' Game 5 win over the Clippers on Tuesday.
Analysis: Westbrook was electric in his first game back in the lineup following a foot injury that kept him out of Game 4. His second-quarter scoring ignited the crowd and helped set the table for what would be his highest-scoring game of the postseason. The 2017 NBA MVP has had himself a nice series thus far from a scoring standpoint and will have a chance to end his former team's season on Thursday in Game 6.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray goes off for 43 points vs. Clippers
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 7:01 PM
Jamal Murray had a dominant Game 5 performance in the Nuggets' win over the Clippers on Tuesday, tallying 43 points (17-of-26 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), five rebounds, seven assists, three steals, one block and eight three-pointers.
Analysis: Fresh off a series-low 13 points in Game 4, Murray exploded for a series-high on Tuesday. He totaled nearly as many three-pointers in this game as he had in the previous four combined, while still managing to dish out seven assists. Murray got hot early in this one and never cooled off. That has provided his Nuggets the opportunity to eliminate the Clippers for the second time in the last five seasons, with Game 6 scheduled for Thursday.
Michael Porter
Michael Porter Jr. (shoulder) available for Game 5
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 3:13 PM
Denver Nuggets
Michael Porter Jr. (shoulder) is available for Game 5 on Tuesday against the Clippers.
Analysis: Initially questionable for Game 5, the Nuggets announced that Porter is officially available. He'll take his usual place in the starting lineup, likely surpassing 40 minutes after logging 42 in Denver's Game 4 victory on Saturday.
Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook (foot) available for Game 5
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 3:11 PM
Denver Nuggets
Russell Westbrook (foot) is available for Game 5 on Tuesday against the Clippers.
Analysis: Westbrook is available after sitting out the Nuggets' wild Game 4 victory on Saturday. He should not have much difficulty reaching double digits in minutes, something that only one Nuggets reserve (Peyton Watson) did in Game 4.
Michael Porter
MPJ (shoulder) won't face suspension Tuesday
Tue, Apr 29, 2025, 8:20 AM
Michael Porter Jr. (shoulder) won't face suspension for Tuesday's matchup against the Clippers.
Analysis: MPJ left the bench area during a Game 4 scuffle but won't face suspension if he suits up on Tuesday. He logged a series-high 42 minutes in Game 4 and will likely play a significant role in Game 5 if healthy and engaged.
