Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray turns in 24/3/10/3 line vs. Portland
Thu, Dec 19, 2024, 6:57 PM
Jamal Murray posted a strong line on Thursday with 24 points (9-of-19 FGs), three rebounds, 10 assists, three steals and three 3-pointers against Portland.
Analysis: Since returning from a two-game absence with a hamstring issue, Murray has been on a tear. He has been playing some of his best basketball of the season and has averaged 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.3 steals and 3.0 triples per game while shooting 45.9% from the line during the last three games. That is a 3% improvement on his season-long field goal percentage while taking four extra shots per game, which has resulted in some excellent nights. He'll look to carry this production into New Orleans to wrap up the week on Sunday.
Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook contributes 19/4/7/1/2 off bench
Thu, Dec 19, 2024, 6:53 PM
Russell Westbrook provided a boost off the bench with 19 points (8-of-12 FGs), four rebounds, seven assists, one steal, two blocks and two 3-pointers against Portland on Thursday.
Analysis: With Christian Braun back after a one-game absence, Westbrook returned to playing a role off the bench. However, he was still able to make an impact on this game, especially late in the fourth. He had a big block on Anfernee Simons that set up a dunk for Michael Porter Jr. that gave Denver a late lead. It wasn't enough to help them win, and he wasn't able to put up the same numbers that he did during his recent starts. However, Westbrook is playing far better than he did for either Los Angeles team and will continue to be an important reserve piece for the Nuggets.
Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic scores 34 points in loss to Portland
Thu, Dec 19, 2024, 6:50 PM
Nikola Jokic led Denver with 34 points (13-of-18 FGs), six rebounds, eight assists, one steal and four 3-pointers in a 126-124 loss to the Trail Blazers on Thursday.
Analysis: This wasn't a typical Jokic masterclass. Sure, he was still unstoppable as a scorer, and he scored 10 of his 34 in the fourth, which included a late layup to tie the game. However, he set a new season-low for rebounds and failed to record a double-double for just the fourth time this season. Managers shouldn't be worried, since he is still arguably the best player in fantasy basketball. They'll close out the week in New Orleans on Sunday before a four-game week after that. Jokic will have plenty of dominant nights during that stretch.
Christian Braun
Christian Braun (back) available vs. Portland
Thu, Dec 19, 2024, 3:15 PM
Denver Nuggets
Christian Braun (low back strain) will play against the Trail Blazers on Thursday.
Analysis: With Braun back after a one-game absence, Russell Westbrook will return to playing his typical role off the bench. Julian Strawther saw extra minutes as a reserve with Braun sidelined, but he won't get that same boost in this game.
Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook has 18/9/10 line in win over SAC
Mon, Dec 16, 2024, 6:53 PM
Russell Westbrook had 18 points (8-of-13 FGs), nine rebounds, 10 assists and three steals against the Kings on Monday.
Analysis: Westbrook filled in for the injured Christian Braun (back). He predictably handled the ball and allowed Jamal Murray to take on a larger scoring role. Westbrook excelled in his 35 minutes as he was merely one rebound shy of a triple-double. The 36-year-old point guard is still a productive streaming option when Denver is missing a starter.
Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic has 20/14/13/3/1 line in win Monday
Mon, Dec 16, 2024, 6:48 PM
Nikola Jokic had 20 points (8-of-19 FGs), 14 rebounds, 13 assists, three steals, one block and one 3-pointer against the Kings on Monday.
Analysis: Ho-hum. At this point, a 20-point triple-double is merely lite work for the 29-year-old center. Jokic has won the MVP award three times already and will only fail to win it again due to voter fatigue. Even on a night where he only scored 20 points, the big man filled up the stat sheet in every other category. The Joker continues to be a fantasy beast.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray has 28 points, 4 threes in win Monday
Mon, Dec 16, 2024, 6:45 PM
Jamal Murray had 28 points (11-of-26 FGs), two rebounds, six assists, one block and four 3-pointers in the Nuggets' 130-129 victory over the Kings on Monday.
Analysis: Murray led the Nuggets in scoring and shot attempts in his second game back from a hamstring injury. He had 28 points on 26 shots and six assists, but only one turnover and was +10 in 38 minutes in the one-point Denver victory. It's been a down shooting year for the 27-year-old point guard, but he got there on volume in this one.
Russell Westbrook
DEN starting Murray, Westbrook, MPJ, Gordon, Jokic
Mon, Dec 16, 2024, 3:36 PM
Denver Nuggets
Jamal Murray, Russell Westbrook, Michael Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon, and Nikola Jokic will start Monday's game against the Kings.
Analysis: With Christian Braun (back) sidelined, Westbrook will start alongside Murray. This should mean more time off the ball for Jamal, possibly resulting in a more productive night for him as a scorer. Julian Strawther will also have increased fantasy value, but he takes a hit remaining on the bench instead of replacing Braun.
Christian Braun
Christian Braun (back) downgraded to out Monday
Mon, Dec 16, 2024, 3:06 PM
Denver Nuggets
Christian Braun (low back strain) is out for Monday's game against the Kings.
Analysis: Initially questionable for Monday's game, Braun has officially been ruled out. Julian Strawther has the most to gain regarding fantasy value, as he appears to be the player most likely to replace Braun in the starting lineup. He's worth streaming in deep leagues.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray (hamstring) available Monday vs. SAC
Mon, Dec 16, 2024, 3:06 PM
Jamal Murray (right hamstring inflammation) is available for Monday's game against the Kings.
Analysis: No surprise here after Murray was listed as probable. He will play in his second straight game after missing two games because of his hamstring. Murray had 20 points against the Clippers on Friday.
Dario Saric
Dario Saric (ankle) to remain sidelined Monday
Sun, Dec 15, 2024, 10:41 AM
NBA Injury Report
Dario Saric (left ankle sprain) will not play in Monday's game against the Kings.
Analysis: Saric's absence will not impact fantasy basketball, as Nikola Jokic plays most of the available minutes at center. DeAndre Jordan will remain the backup center, but he is not worth streaming in this spot.
Christian Braun
Braun (back) questionable Monday vs. Kings
Sun, Dec 15, 2024, 10:38 AM
Christian Braun (back) is questionable for Monday's game against the Kings.
Analysis: Braun was probable, but ultimately played Friday while dealing with a quad injury. Now he's listed as questionable with a back issue. If Braun can't go, Julian Strawther could move into the starting lineup.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray (hamstring) probable Monday vs. Kings
Sun, Dec 15, 2024, 10:34 AM
Jamal Murray (right hamstring inflammation) is probable for Monday's game against the Kings.
Analysis: Murray missed two games with the hamstring injury, but returned Friday and had 20 points in the Nuggets' win over the Clippers. It appears that Murray is on track to be in the lineup once again Monday.
Peyton Watson
Peyton Watson contributes 14/5 line off bench
Fri, Dec 13, 2024, 6:00 PM
Peyton Watson provided a boost off the bench with 14 points (5-of-6 FGs), five rebounds, two steals and one triple against the Clippers on Friday.
Analysis: Watson hasn't been a consistent producer this year when coming off the bench, but with the score lopsided for most of the second half, he was able to log some extra minutes and make up for his dud spot start last week. Watson isn't worth rostering when coming off the bench, though it was good to see him play well in this one. As long as Aaron Gordon is healthy, Watson can be left on the waiver wire. They have a back-to-back coming up next weekend, so there is a chance that Watson starts one of those if AG is still managing this calf strain.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray (hamstring) puts up 20/5/3/4/1
Fri, Dec 13, 2024, 5:56 PM
Jamal Murray returned to the lineup on Friday and contributed 20 points (8-of-16 FGs), five rebounds, three assists, four steals, one block, two triples and six turnovers in a 120-98 win over the Clippers.
Analysis: After missing their last two games with a hamstring issue, Murray was back in the lineup for this one. This was one of his best games of the season, and he was able to lead the team in scoring as they got their second straight blowout win. Murray's availability hasn't been a major issue yet, and he was able to get over a week off between games, which gave his hammy plenty of extra rest. Murray's shooting numbers have been down this year, so hopefully this is a performance that he can build off of moving forward.
Julian Strawther
Julian Strawther chips in 12/4/2 line vs. Clippers
Fri, Dec 13, 2024, 5:52 PM
Julian Strawther came off the bench and finished with 12 points (3-of-6 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs), four rebounds and two assists against the Clippers on Friday.
Analysis: Strawther hasn't been able to make much of a fantasy impact this season, but he has played well recently. He he scored in double figures in three straight games, and he was able to provide numbers without hitting a triple in this game, which is the strongest aspect of his game. Strawther isn't a player to consider rostering in standard leagues at this time, but if he ever gets the chance to move into the starting unit, even if it's only for one game, he'll be worth picking up.
Aaron Gordon
Aaron Gordon, Christian Braun available Friday
Fri, Dec 13, 2024, 2:05 PM
Denver Nuggets
Aaron Gordon (right calf strain) and Christian Braun (right quad contusion) are available for Friday's game against the Clippers.
Analysis: Gordon and Braun were initially probable for Friday's game, so the status upgrades were expected. They'll take their usual places in the starting lineup, with Julian Strawther and Peyton Watson coming off the bench.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray (hamstring) will play vs. Clippers
Fri, Dec 13, 2024, 2:05 PM
Denver Nuggets
Jamal Murray (right hamstring inflammation) has been upgraded to available for Friday's game against the Clippers.
Analysis: Murray will be back after a two-game absence, and his return will force Russell Westbrook to return to his typical role off the bench. He was a strong streaming option when he was starting, but he'll lose that value with Murray back.
Jamal Murray
Jamal Murray (hamstring) questionable vs. LAC
Thu, Dec 12, 2024, 1:54 PM
NBA Injury Report
Jamal Murray (right hamstring inflammation) is questionable to play against the Clippers on Friday.
Analysis: Murray has missed Denver's last two games, which has allowed Russell Westbrook to start in his place. Westbrook will return to the bench if Murray is back, but he'll be a decent streaming option if Murray remains sidelined.
Christian Braun
Christian Braun, Aaron Gordon probable vs. LAC
Thu, Dec 12, 2024, 1:53 PM
NBA Injury Report
Christian Braun (right quad contusion) and Aaron Gordon (right calf strain) are probable to play against the Clippers on Friday.
Analysis: Denver should once again have both of these starters available as they look to get a second straight win. Julian Strawther and Peyton Watson likely won't get a chance to move into the starting lineup for this game.
